| I was expecting this to happen, with the success of DDO, just not so damn quickly! I may actually be inclined to play my character again on the side depending on what all I can do for free. If you'd like to sign up for the beta, just as they did with DDO, click here; it begins June 16th! Well after finding this chart of what the restrictions are I wouldn't be able to continue my character without buying Mirkwood and such, but I suppose as a time killer on occasion to just run around may be interesting from time to time. Guess it depends if they drop the price of the expansions for this or still charge their full price as they are now...hrm Course I've already done everything from lvl 1-50 extensively so really to be entertained I'd need to have the latest to advance with...ah well! | |

| I was just coming to post about this xD I didn't have this chart though, cool! I don't like the idea of limited character slots, chat, mail, and auction houses, though. 1 Character per server would kill me Dx and 3 per server isn't much better. And the inventory limit ._. If VIP is the normal monthly subscription, it just might be worth subscribing still, rather than free, if you want to play it. But I do like the option.
Although I have Moria so I should get 3 character slots free... still don't like it xD I think I would subscribe if I wanted to play LOTRO again, assuming VIP is a normal subscription.
EDIT: Ah, Premium comes from your first purchase of Turbine points. That's not bad then. I still think I would subscribe due to chat limits and whatnot, if I were going to play often, but might be fun to play free or premium in between P2P games or something. But I don't think I have the time for a P2P and free LOTRO at the same time xD

| Yeah the more I think about it though, don't think I ever will return, its just not what it used to be and the restrictions are rather limited even for premium. I wonder how much 'grinding' will be required to earn points to unlock content as it states in the top box, cause I don't wanna pay anything really...hehe | |

| Here's the news about it: http://www.lotro.com/news/709I'll be a VIP player (lifetime subscriber) but I still don't like the idea of it being F2P. | |

| Turbine Interview with more info. The way they're locking out the region quests after lvl 22 is different, and could be an interesting take on it depending on how much they charge for it. | |

I'll be a VIP player (lifetime subscriber) but I still don't like the idea of it being F2P. I couldn't get into this game. But it sucks they're doing F2P model. All that means is the content updates won't be nearly as good as they could be. That and now 12 year old's will want to play.

| Meh... I saw this coming with WB buying them.
Also, if you have Wardens and Runekeepers already made you can still play them. If you have bought Moria and/or Mirkwood expansions, youre automatically a Premium member, even if you never give Turbine another dime.

| Yeah I read the FAQ they posted which very few have yet to read...lol So many people going ape-shit over this without reading all the details, when its actually a very good move and nobody is being downgraded or losing any previous purchases or progress. | |

| You should have seen the reactions on the glff when they heard it for the first time. It was mass hysteria, lol. | |

| Lol, I bet. It's cool that they give some perks from the change. But I still wouldn't be to happy about the F2P thing. That's mostly due to the kinds of people F2P games attract. Not always bad, but a lot of times it's not always good either, lol. | |

| Two things I dont like about this change: Landroval RP is going to suffer. The fact that they stopped offering the lifetime sub on the very same day that I actually had 200$ ready to give them... when they had the offer up not even a day before... I cancelled not very long after that I was so disgusted. Then I went and spent the money and felt mildly better. lol | |

| I only played the game to arround lvl 38 I think. Iv never been a big fan of Turbine.
I'm shocked they would do this. Obviously it worked out for DDO if they are willing to do the same with LOTRO.
Good for them | |

| I think the whole thing works personally, people don't like to be forced to pay to play a game, but then when they do play it they don't like having restrictions so they are more likely to pay to get them taken off :p Then are are those that just play for free and deal with the restrictions because they can't afford to pay, and for them it's also fair. Most MMOs should have systems like this, as opposed to item shops or 100% F2P games that are utter shite. | |

| Did ya guys read the article on massively where the devs said they're removing the radiance system. Man I so wish Turbine would've not done it to begin cause thats what began the journey into progression gear, which was horrible. I didn't read the whole article to see what it'd be replaced with or whatever, but I greatly preferred being able to craft gear near equivalent to that of raided and earned from PvMP...this was before MoM. | |

| I have a lifetime sub as well. Currently I rerolled a Loremaster on the new server Riddermark. This will last me up to FFXIVs launch, so in a way I'm glad the new patch/ftp change has hit finally. I also have 2 65s on Landroval. Minstrel and Hunter. | |
