Star Wars: The old republic - Spring 2011

Recent update and confirmation that SW TOR is aimed at being released Spring of 2011..

I was expecting a quicker launch than that, and quite frankly I'm impressed. The game is already looking pretty good and if it's got this long in development, it drastically improves the chances of them having the time to make a solid MMO. Too bad we will all be happy on FFXIV by then, lol.

On the flip side, maybe they just didn't want to compete with both FFXIV and WoW's Cat expansion. If timed right, I'm sure they can pick up quite a few subs from WoW when the post expansion lull hits, like it always does.

Well, there is more to that though, cause the Spring 2011 Fiscal year for EA starts this April, which is still Spring and would be technically Spring 2011. Its not been clear whether they mean actual or fiscal yet.

Launching before Cataclysm of course is a mistake, especially since its Friends and Family beta for it started today, so that is going to be coming this spring if not early summer too, STO is soon as well as many others, but there is nothing schedules major for next Spring yet.

This is EA though and they rushed WAR out the door too, so we'll see!

They specifically didn't say fiscal year. It's not on some stockholder's memo or anything but on their own forums addressing the fans. They mean what they said, in just a little over 12 months from now the game is targeted to release. The only time any company has ment fiscal year is when it was leaked from a stockholder's release (ie: Aion).

You've got it backwards with releasing before Cat. It doesn't quite work that way. Unless you release early enough to get people firmly addicted, the WoW gorilla is going to take back any subs you took from them when the expansion launches. You've got a much better chance of getting more lasting subs if you wait for the standard 4-6 month lull in player interest with the current WoW content. War is a perfect example. Of the players that did stay more than the first 30 days, a very large group of them left for WoW's next expansion.

Oh ok, thats a new update...yesterday it was not yet confirmed, but it appears it has been now...ah well I have no interest in SW:TOR anyway.

For that game to work they will need to push it back more then that.

Like Khalus iv not felt any intrest to play this game.
