Subject: The Nintendo "3DS" Debut... Tue Mar 23, 2010 7:35 pm
Nintendo announced today that their new successor to the DS and DSi is the 3DS, due out in March 2011. More details of course will be announced at E3 this year which starts June 15th. I'm still not all that crazy about the 3D phenomenon that Avatar started, havn't even seen the movie yet, nor do I care about having a TV that supports 3D which they say will start being avail next fall, but from this sweet video below showing off the 3D tech in the new 3DS, I'm actually quite interested.
Adding that new multi-layer of depth as shown is really going to add a ton to games, especially RPGs if done correctly. Gotta hand it too Nintendo once again for moving ahead with the gaming industry through innovation instead of Copy ~ Paste and Follow that Sony most of all keeps doing and Microsoft kinda even though they're trying to do their own thing on occasion.
Now once again, should I still go for getting a DS XL this year as planned, or wait once again for this new model. Like I said I don't really care too much about the 3D, but it is interesting...

It's hard to really see where this is going. No one really knows the specifics behind this so it's still too early to say anything. I find speculating completely useless at the moment because all it's going to do is give it bad hype.

lol... so they added a caption to the top. "CAUTION! This is NOT a Nintendo 3DS demo! [This] is a Nintendo DSiWare title!"
They're eliminating the gap between the screens! Hurray! I'm interested to see what this 3D joystick they're talking about is too... to be 3D, it would have to be able to go the standard forwards, backwards, left, and right, AND up and down. It's hard to imagine what that would even look like. Maybe it loops around your thumb or something so you can lift your thumb up to pull it out and then just push to push it down.

That just looks like the DS using an accelerometer to change the image on the screen with the DS as it's moved around.
Also, this 3d phenomenon was started before Avatar came out. Avatar is just ahead in the game as far as technology goes.
