FreeRealms....hrm!

Well, as you all know I really dislike Sony and was quite negative about this game. I recently got invited into Closed Beta of which I forgot I even signed up for, and I'd have to say I think SOE will have quite the hit on their hands. Its not just mindless quests to go kill 10x of something and return. You actually participate in everything you do, and its all like mini-games and they're a lot of fun; from squashing monsters, scaring monsters, cooking, owning & raising a pet, owning a house, Kart Racing {which was a blast that had demolition arenas and lengthy racing tracks} You can also be a Blacksmith or Fashion Designer too...and lastly for being a browser based game with a small download I'm highly impressed with how smooth its run thus far, as the character animations a movement is very fluid and well done!

For instances the first quest chain I got during the beginning tutorial had me chasing goblins down a path as I was taught the controls {which I'd have to say is well done for once in a blue moon!} When I got to the final part I was turned into this huge purple monster and had to run around a pig pen while I Grunted and Grrr'd scaring the goblins out!




Then the next quest and thus far all so far for the last few hours, its either a closed off area or a mob just standing there that you click on and you enter into your own private instance. Beforehand is a menu with details and requirements to succeed. Everything is like a short mini-game, from killing so many enemies without getting knocked out 5 times, to harvesting veggies for cooking which is like a match 3 type game, and the cooking is incredibly fun. You don't just click cook with the ingredients in your bag....you literally go into a mini-game screen and actually have to use the mouse while holding down a button to either slice, chop, stir, pick-up, flip, etc etc etc....there are like 5-9 steps all a short mini-event for each ingredient you have to prepare, then cook it!

Finally for now, its gonna be $4.99 a month for membership which will unlock 5 more jobs, 2 more character slots, and a host of additional options + there will be a cash shop opening once live that claims to have over 400 items in it...some are already there:




Its been a really long time since I've had fun with an MMO, and this for some odd reason is doing it...its just not like others, and I really like the mini-game style of play a lot too. Depends how it goes and if I get bored of it, but I may just buy into this once live if all goes well, oh and I'll get better images of the mini-games and stuffagehere soon...just was having so much fun I forgot to get them...hehe

Well it appears that you'll have to get a subscription eventually, SOE are sly bastards, but I like their method of delivering special content. I found that along with enemies there are rare spawns of named mobs too, but it turns out that some require a membership to engage them as well as some points of the main quest line I just encountered:

Nice graphics! And too bad you have to do subscription later on but what can you do...they need to make money, hehe! By the way, where's the link?!

I actually signed up on my sign on and didn't need a beta key - they sent me an email. It's pretty interesting so far. I do like the Chef and Brawler - still trying to get to find the Ninja eventually. Pet trainer kinda hard to level since you need to buy a dog from their CS (boo). But really enjoying this game! :) You can find me there as Leila Newvale - though I asked to change to Aziel Slade (not approved yet).

Oh, and yay, I can play this at work, haha.

Yeah, I might try it out. After watching the Dev demo where they walk through the game and demonstrate everything, it still doesn't look to be something my style. But, I might give it a whirl on Monday when I get off work. You probably wont be seeing me on any games much this week because I'll be working. I only get Monday off after I change shifts in the morning, and Thursday off because I'm going to a concert. So I'm going to be pretty dead to the world. I wont get much time to recover from working the weekend, so the most you will catch me doing is sneaking on Titans Online when it opens up Tuesday.

What server you playing on now that its live? There are 2 servers live atm, and I think I chose server 2, and my characters name is Khalus Akuhei... I may pop in from time to time and play this as it was fun and if I end up deciding to continue with it; $4.99 is a good price I can afford....it does offer many varieties and a collection system which is always fun to hunt down.

I'm on server 4 - name is Danielle Braveheart. I used Danielle cuz of Dani (of course), and Braveheart cuz that's what hubby said LOL. They changed a few things definitely and it's much better. I'm concentrating on Chef right now and already lvl 14. :)
