Q9550 processor overclocked @ 3.4ghz
8 gigabytes 1333 ram
ATI 5850 1 gig, overclocked at 900/1150
Kingston Solid State Drive

Managed to score about 4700 on high settings and 5700 on low with it. Not too bad for a 1 year+ old rig.

If you have a certain budget in mind, post it up. I'm sure a few of us could come up with some decent builds for you.

Power Supply 109.99

Computer Case 129.98

Motherboard 139.99

Video Card 229.99

Ram 99.99

Processor 209.99

Hard Drive 74.99

DVD Reader/Burner 19.99

Windows 7 64 bit 139.99

Total, minus shipping = 1154.90

This, in my opinion, is an excellent performer at a decent price. If you'd want to lower the tag a bit, you could go with a 4 core AMD and a lower end case. The way I set this build up allows for great performance now and room to expand. Down the line, you could go for another 4 gigs of ram. This processor overclocks really well too with just a multiplier tweak.

Check this out too for a more budget oriented build. This combo is a pretty sweet deal and a solid base for a decent system.

I'd suggest you get an Hitachi HDD, an EVGA GPU, and an Antec PS & Case!

Pfft. Brand name semantics. :P
I pretty much went with combo deals, so long as the brands were proven.

I will stick by the Coolermaster HAF 932 case recommendation though.

Of course you'll want to check the web Raijin and come up with your own conclusions. We could argue over what brand is better and for what reason until the cows come home.

X2 on that Coolermaster HAF 932... that thing moves some serious air and when it comes to a high-end gaming rig... heat is the enemy. For $130 it's hard to beat and looks well-built.

One way to save some $$$ is to frankenstein parts from your old machine... specifically HDD and CD-rom provided they're still in good condition.

For my next rig I plan on doing just that... well I'm gonna splurge on a SSD for the OS and the high-end games, but I'm keepin the 500gb and 1.5tb drives I currently have for storage.
